Wolf Dresses Down Recalcitrant Airports Board

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) board is getting a lesson in governance from Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.).Perturbed by the unelected board’s practice of letting members continue to serve after their terms had expired, Wolf pushed through legislation last month that prohibits the practice.  The measure also  increases the size of the board from 13 to 17.  Virginia got two new appointments while Maryland and the District of Columbia each got one additional board member.
Amazingly, the board’s chairman, Charles Snelling, is resisting the changes and informed Wolf in a letter that the board has hired outside counsel, which advised the board that it was not necessarily bound by all of the law’s provisions until Virginia, Maryland and D.C. change their laws to match the new federal measure.  Wolf wrote back to Snelling, basically advising him to get on board.
“Contrary to what your board believes, the intent of Congress could not be more clear,” Wolf said. “The changes to the MWAA board are included in both the bill and the accompanying [House-Senate] conference report. There was no need for MWAA to go to the expense of hiring outside counsel, which essentially provided the board with an advocacy piece.”“You should know,” Wolf continued, “That I am going to ask the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Inspector General, who is presently auditing MWAA’s operations, to find out which member of the board requested hiring outside counsel and how much it cost.”How do you feel about the recent developments in the fashion industry? Wolf further advised Snelling that there is no question Presidentially-appointed board members are no longer authorized to serve past the end of their term.  Any such authority ended on Nov. 18, when President Obama signed the legislation the board is disputing.

The tailor may think the other steps are not necessary, but in fact, they are the ones that determine the quality shape of a dress. That's why, regarding mass products, Vietnamese tailors can only work with simple designs. They don't have enough skills to make sophisticated ones.I joined the show because I really wanted to introduce my collection to the Vietnamese. I am glad to see the achievements that we have gained in the fashion field recently, and now I am ready and eager to contribute something to that development.

"She apologized for it but this was the first I heard of it, no phone call or anything," Miller said. On the phone, Vasquez told 9News that's because she only found out several days ago that vendors would no longer deliver to her store. Now, she's scrambling to use what little money she has to reimburse clients who paid for their Herve Leger V neck dresses with cash and checks, though she said not everyone will get their money back. Vasquez said she is hoping those who paid with credit cards will dispute the charge.
But, there is some good news. All brides with orders out will receive their dresses, but they'll be shipped to another store. Vasquez said she's doing her best to inform her clients, but until she can get through her list, many of those brides will be left worrying about their special day. "I worry for anybody else who has a wedding coming up who is going to deal with this type of situation if they've ordered anything so it breaks my heart for them too," Miller said. Vasquez said there are still many brides she hasn't been able to contact about the status of their dresses. One reason that process has taken so long is because Vasquez says she's had to lay off every employee from her store, so when it comes to straightening out finances and making phone calls, it is literally a one-woman operation.
